Many thanks to Torsten and Jacqueline of Anvil Technology, Australia, who let us know!
(Note that we don't have a wiring diagram for the early 1965 1500 SP(L) 310 with two seats - if any of you can help we would love to publicise your public spirit when we include it here!)

General
A wiring diagram for a complete car requires more kilobytes (KB) than do most graphics; this means that it takes longer to download. In order to minimize download time we reduce the resolution or detail (and hence the KB) of all the graphics on this web site as much as we dare, consistent with clarity.
That is why we offer you our wiring diagrams in two clarity levels - one you can print off our web site and a somewhat better one either on paper which we can snail mail to you or as a GIF file we can email to you.
Neither clarity will match that of the huge files available from some web sites, or specially printed diagrams on paper, but we think you will like the concept and the wiring diagrams, not to mention the price. The better quality version is adequate for fixing your cars, but not for hanging in your living room; the lesser quality one is clear enough to answer about 95% of your needs.
Rumour mill: We are experimenting with creating vector images which should be much clearer and use fewer kilobytes, but we aren't promising anything (too much else to do to provide you customers with things you probably need more.)
Wiring Diagrams on this Web Site
We are building up a library of diagrams on this web site. Each is intended to be printed so that you can take it to wherever you are working on your car.
Normally, each diagram will take up two letter size pages in landscape orientation; you will have to stick the pages together. Our two goals are that the detail will be sufficient for to work out where the wires go and what colour they were a quarter century ago, and that the diagrams are big enough to see while you are under the dashboard in an unnatural position. If you cannot read everything you need you may have better luck if you order one of our free printouts of the same diagram scanned at a higher resolution (see "Wiring Diagrams on Paper" below).
Printing
Let's assume you are using an ordinary laser, inkjet or matrix printer.
If the size is near the limit for printing a complete diagram onto the number of pages specified below the diagram, you should use all means your browser and operating system have for increasing the area of paper available for the diagram. For example, with Netscape 2.02 plus Win95 you can specify the margin size down to zero and whether or not you want headers and footers; these latter superimpose themselves over the diagram on the preview screen if things are really tight, and even worse they may blank out part of the diagram when you actually print.
Here's an example:
Let us assume that below the diagram is printed "PRINT: Letter size - Landscape - two pages". In order to print it with Netscape 2.02 with Win95 you should:
Here are a few problems with browsers other than Netscape 2.02 or 3.0 which we cannot seem to do overcome except by printing them on a Postscript printer at 70% size on one page - see "Postscript Printers" below. (Suggestions always welcome!). Note that unless otherwise noted
Although we can't test with our old Mac, three friends with modern Macs check us out and report that all seems well.
Please email Patrick at pmullen@telus.net if you are having trouble printing the diagram or if you have any other technical concerns or suggestions for our web site.
If you prefer to do-it-yourself and have appropriate graphics software, you can copy the GIF file from the source file using your browser (Nestscape Gold 2.02 works fine) and print it.
If you still find the diagram is not as good as you want, see "Wiring Diagrams on Paper" below.
Postscript Printers
First, the good news........
If you have a Postscript printer you can specify the size of the printed diagram. This means that you can print our diagrams at their original Datsun service manual size on one page, which in turn means that you can overcome the problems with ordinary printers with some of the older browsers (see "Printing" above) and without loss of detail - providing your printer can manage 300 dpi or so. If the diagram calls for two letter size pages in landscape mode you can generally print it at 70% size on one letter size page in portrait mode.
But then......
You need pretty good eyes for the smaller details.
The Win95 driver for our old IBM 4019 Postscript printer with 4MB memory gives a light grey background to the diagrams.
Text is OK provided that we at Sports_Imports keep the small stuff black; the printer's postscript driver converts the text to a grey scale so that lighter colours get washed out and small text sizes especially can be difficult to read. You will notice that we have changed all ordinary small text to black.
The printing speed is incredibly slow and you need about 2.5 MB printer memory per page so that most home postscript printers with only 4 MB can only accept orders for one page at a time; we recommend that you owners of dual mode printers print onto multiple pages with the postscript option OFF unless forced otherwise.
Wiring Diagrams on Paper
We are building up a library of diagrams on paper.
Each is of a higher resolution than its web site equivalent, but at present none is as high as the original Nissan diagram from which we scanned it. The size is as large as possible on two sheets of standard North American letter (8.5"x 11") or legal (8.5"x14") paper.
Send us (via email, telephone or snail mail) your snail mail address for a free printout (or, MUCH BETTER, order a part or two); we'll send you one in a few days. If you are desperate and have the right graphics software, send Patrick an email to pmullen@telus.net and he'll respond with a higher resolution GIF file attached.
Specify your choice from those we have on this web site. If you need a classic Datsun diagram not yet here, let us know and, if we have it, we'll prepare it for the site and send you a personal beta version as soon as it's ready.
